Amberd Fortress-Saghmosavank Monastery-Armenian Alphabet Monument-Kari Lake
During this tour, we will stop at the Armenian Alphabet Monument, where you can find the first letter of your name and take memorable photos. The Armenian language is one of the world’s oldest, belonging to a unique branch of the Indo-European family, unlike any other language in the world.
Next, we visit Amberd Fortress, dramatically located on the slopes of Mount Aragats, Armenia’s highest peak. In the 13th century, the noble Zakaryan family launched their liberation campaign against the Seljuk Turks from this very fortress. The name Amberd translates as “Fortress in the Clouds,” as it stands 2,300 meters above sea level.
Finally, we reach Kari Lake, situated on Mount Aragats at 3,250 meters above sea level. From the lake’s open surroundings, you will enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Ararat. The lake’s name comes from the word “kar” (stone), and folklore says it was formed and fed by streams running through rocky terrain.
